A beautiful 4-stall barn channels modern farmhouse style on the exterior.
In March of 2018 Stacy Hall and her husband Bill bought 88-acres in Kingston, Tennessee. They worked with Jack Spratt of Spratt Construction to build their home and barn, along with design help for the barn and storage barn. Most of the barn components are from RAMM Fence, Stephanie at RAMM helped provide additional insight into planning and design as well.
Stacy found her passion for horses at a young age. Growing up, she started taking lessons when she was about 10-years-old. Stacy’s parents were wonderful and supportive horse parents, but they weren’t horse people. When it was time to go to college, the horses were sold and Stacy focused on a new chapter in her life.
A few years ago, Stacy found her way back to her first love; horses. She started taking lessons again and leasing a horse, which led to her purchasing not one, but two awesome Quarter Horses – Nu Cash Deposit “Trooper” and Dust Off the Tequila “Smoke”. Stacy rides western, participating in ranch horse and stock horse clinics and shows.
“Being able to have the horses with me at my own place is a dream come true!”
A set of white steel doors with windows hang at each end of the barn.
A relaxing sitting area outside the barn.
The barn exterior is painted with Benjamin Moore’s “Ballet White”. The exterior is covered in HardiePlank Board and the batten is covered with a silver galvalume standing seam roof. The convenient dutch doors allow Trooper and Smoke free run from the pasture to their stalls.
The back dry lot uses Light Hoof from RAMM, it has been wonderful for keeping the area free from mud during the rainy season.
Inside the Barn
The center aisle is 12 feet wide with rubber dog-bone pavers from RAMM.
There are four 12′ x 12′ stalls down the left aisle. The stall fronts and dividers are from RAMM. Each stall has a Nelson automatic waterer and rubber mats inside.
The first stall has two specialty small windows that can be opened for future miniature horses.
One of Stacy’s favorite barn features is the great ventilation it receives. There is always a breeze coming through. Bill helped plan the layout for the doors and windows to maximize the light and airflow. Each of the stalls has an agricultural fan from RAMM Fence hardwired in with a switch on the front.
The right-hand side of the barn has a 12′ x 12′ wash bay on one end and a 12′ x 12′ feed room on the other end.
Matt Elfstrom, who works for Spratt Construction, made a custom feed bin from pictures and drawings.
The middle section of the right-hand side has a 12′ x 24′ bump out on the front making the space 24′ x 24′. Eventually that will be a tack room/lounge area. while the other room is being utilized as bathroom and laundry room. Currently Stacy and Bill are living in the barn with Trooper and Smoke, their two German Shepherds Romeo and Scout and two barn cats, Tammy and George while their main home is being built.
The barn is 36′ x 48′ (add an extra 12′ x 24′ with the bump out in the front). The storage building is 48′ x 48′ with six 12′ x 12′ openings. It was designed so the truck and trailer could pull in and out with ease around a circular drive.
The 4-board fence was built by Loudon County Fence. The company also built a 60-foot round pen and fenced the covered arena built by Jason Burns from Lebanon, Tennessee.
Thank you Stacy for opening your barn doors up to Stable Style!
