Situated in the beautiful countryside is a pristine horse property.
Mirnovec Farm is a family owned stable in Samobor, Croatia. The stunning buildings embrace the vintage style of Croatian architecture dating back to 100 years ago. Red-roofed buildings and charming bric exteriors built by professionals from Croatia and Slovenija are found throughout the acreage.
A Family Operation
The facility is owned by the Koletić family. They have enjoyed horses as a family together for years. Josipa shared this property with Stable Style and shared some details about the farm.
“Ever since I was little, I was in love with horses. Riding was always my career of choice. When I was seven, my father decided to make a small four-box stable on a piece of land that he inherited from his grandfather. At first, his idea was to keep it very small and private but things escalated with me competing in show jumping. Over the years we bought more land and slowly built the center that we see today.”
Mirnovec Farm offers boarding for clients, lessons and riding camps for kids. The property is open to horse owners and only the general public during horse shows that are hosted on the grounds.
Mirnovec Farm is one property with two separate businesses on the land; an equestrian facility and restaurant. Mirnovec hosts team building meetings, celebrations, gatherings and luxury weddings in the non equestrian side of the property. There are a total of 10 individual buildings (not counting and indoor riding arena) on the property.
The equestrian section hosts 29 box stalls, divided throughout four barns. The main barn has 17 box stalls, a solarium, two wash stalls and two tack rooms. It also has an apartment and gallery with trophies displayed (above the stalls/attic) with the view of the the horses.
The remaining stalls are divided among three smaller four stall barns. Additional equestrian areas include a lunging area, indoor (60x30m) and outdoor (60x80m) arena with an ebb and flow underground watering system, sand paddock and several grass paddocks.
During the summer months there is an abundance of beautiful flowers and blooming throughout the property. Most of the equestrian buildings are new, but designed with a historic style in mind. However the rest of the houses including the restaurant are old homes that were located in different parts of Croatia. Each house was marked (every single piece), dismounted, transported and reassembled. The oldest house on the property is the restaurant named, Barrage – meaning “Jump Off”, which was built in 1868.
The entire property was designed and is currently managed by the Koletić family. Josipa’s mom did the interior design for the houses and appointed them with original pieces of vintage furniture. With careful research, she designed the stables and passed her ideas along to the architect and builder. Josipa’s dad planned and maintains the riding arenas and watering system. Josipa’s sister manages the restaurant and all of the non equestrian activities.
Josipa notes that the details around the farm are what really makes it a special place. These thoughtful details showcase the amount of time that was invested into creating a harmonious horse property.
“My favorite feature in the stable is a tack room connected to the gallery room with direct view to the horses.”
The box stalls are by Zlate, a Slovenian company.
