Kirstineholm is a family operation that is managed by Ida Steen Riemann Ejlersgaard, her husband Christian Ejlersgaard and her mother-in-law Hanne Ejlersgaard. They also run a boutique equestrian shop, Kirstineholm Rideudstyr. The stable was founded by Peer and Hanne, accomplished Grand Prix dressage riders and previous fox hunters. Kirstineholm is one of the most exclusive stables in Denmark, located in Hoejbjerg. There are two stables on the property, one built by an architect 20 years ago, who is now retired and one built eight years ago. Every detail was thoughtfully designed by Hanne and Peer, Ida’s mother and father-in-law.

White Barn

The property has been in the family for years, but the house, stables and indoor arena were built twenty years ago by Hanne and Peer. Pictured here is the L-shaped white stable. It is currently rented out by Hoejgaard Hesteklinik (prominent vets in Denmark).

The interior of the white barn features ten box stalls made by Laake. The stalls are used by the veterinarians when they have sick horses needing extra care. The barn has beautiful high ceilings that draw your eyes up.

Red Barn

There are eleven handmade stalls inside the red barn. Ida and her family use this barn for their personal and client’s horses.It features beautiful wood beams and cobblestone flooring. Everything was customized by a private woodworker and a blacksmith. The wood is from Latvia and the barn aisles are made of cobblestone.

Fun fact: The old barn was on the cover of Vogue 25 years ago.

Hay and shavings are stored here at the end of the stable.

Riding Spaces

The property has indoor and outdoor riding arenas.

The bar and kitchen viewing area offer a glimpse into the covered arena.

The indoor arena is 20 x 65 meters and utilizes the Walber Wax Surface footing. This specialty footing is made with wax, which offers secure footing for professional riders of all levels.

Kirstineholm is frequently visited by Severo Jurado Lopez, a successful Olympic dressage rider from Spain. He competed at the Olympics in 2016 where and placed fifth. Kirstineholm hosts events, the last one being a masterclass with Severo complete with shopping and wine tasting under a big tent.

The outdoor riding arena is 30 x 60 meters and also features the same footing.
