Step inside a well-appointed tack room just outside of Fort Worth, Texas.
Irsaneous Interiors is a boutique design firm in Texas ran by Katie Irsaneous and Brie Berta. They offer residential, commercial and retail design services. One of their amazing projects was this Stable Style worthy tack room. I saw the space on Instagram and immediately wanted to learn more. Katie happily walked me through the design process and shared how this room came together.
The entire project (including the planning and install) took about four months to complete. One of the biggest challenges of this project was its distance from the Iraneous offices, which of course required multiple trips back and forth.
Here are a couple photos of the tack room before. The transformation was incredible.
A Functional & Entertaining Space
The room had to be functional and offer a place to store tack and riding equipment of course. Additionally the client also wanted to make the space be a place where she could sit down and enjoy a cocktail with friends after a ride.
The saddle and tack wall were one of the main focal points in the room. All of the art and photos above the bridle rack were created by the client’s husband.
A Big Transformation
The original walls in the tack room are cedar and work well with the decor. The floor was replaced along with the light fixtures, a new sink was installed, custom shelves were placed above the cabinets, the bathroom door was swapped out, and more. Read on for more details.
The tile backsplash was hand-painted and custom-made from Tabarka. The tile design and challenging install took the longest in this entire project.
The room is filled with a mixture of the client’s belongings and items carefully curated by Irsaneous Interiors. A combination of old and new keeps things interesting. The sliding barn door to the bathroom was a custom ordered from Mexico. The green chairs were found at antique week in Round Top, Texas. The pink Oushak rug was also a great find from antique week.
Texas Antiques Week happens twice a year (in the fall and spring) and it’s worth the trip for interior and fashion finds. If you can’t get to Round Top, visit sites like One Kings Lane and eBay, or Etsy for vintage finds.

The tack trunk is SmartPak’s Starter Trunk.
The leather and brass cabinet straps were found on Etsy and contrast nicely with the wood.
The pendant light above the sink is from Visual Comfort. The faucet and farmhouse sink are both from IKEA.
Thank you Irsaneous Interiors for sharing this project with us!
