This neat and tidy tack room has a place for everything.
Anna has been an avid equestrian since the age of nine. She started out riding Haflingers at a riding school in Tyrol, Austria. As time progressed, Anna’s mom bought Monty, a 4-year-old Lipizzan gelding and began boarding him. Eventually they moved to the countryside near Vienna and had a chance to bring their horse home. They bought a second horse, then a third, and finally a fourth – Hermes, a Hanoverian gelding. Anna does dressage with Hermes and hopes to compete with him soon. The horses all live together right next the house in their open concept stable.
When Hermes became injured, he had to be separated from the other horses and put on stall rest. This forced them to give up their former tack room for Hermes and relocate it. The new tack room features lots of stunning repurposed furniture, which works well in the space. Old meets new in the best kind of way.
The bridle and boot storage is an antique piece of furniture from Anna’s grandmother. They removed the shelves and added hooks for the bridles above.
This beautiful horse figured belonged to Anna’s mother as a child. It was one of her first toys and she also loved horses at a young age.
The beautiful cabinet for the sink and mounted shelf in the corner are also from Anna’s grandmother’s old house. The old wooden pieces are by the Mexican furniture brand, Segusino.
Tips for a Tidy Tack Room
When it comes to keeping a tidy tack room, Anna believes every piece should have its place and stresses the importance of putting things back properly. She cleans her saddle, bridle and boots at least once a week. Blankets, bandages and boots are stored in clear IKEA boxes so everything stays neat and insight. Regular vacuuming (at least once a week) helps remove the dust and debris that comes from brushes and saddle pads.
Anna’s favorite equestrian brands include Equiline, PS of Sweden, Eskadron, Pikeur, Spooks, Uvex, Roeckl and E.G.Â
