This stone structure offers shelter for Windemere Farms’ newest residents.
A little over a year ago, I featured Windemere Farms on the blog. Read, Windemere Farms: 200 Acres of Paradise in Texas to learn more. Like many readers, I immediately fell in love with Jason and Ashley Roberts stunning stone barn. The original barn was inspired by one spotted in Ireland. The newest stone addition was built for some adorable equine residents.

The 24’x12′ structure was completed in three months. Construction started in December of 2018 and was finished in February. The project went off without a hitch, a talented mason replicated the big barn’s design with ease. Stone for the shelter came from the farm’s 200 acre property, just like the main barn. Stone is beautiful, strong and stays cool during the summer.

From left to right: Wynonna, Rosabelle and Sturgill.
Ashley’s oldest daughter wanted a miniature horse. She struck up a deal with her parents that she could have one if she bought and paid for its care. The little bay, known as Sturgill is a mini version of the Quarter Horse Ashley’s daughter shows.
Sturgill came from a farm called America’s Mini’s. While they were there looking for a miniature, Wynonna, the buckskin decided she wanted to come home with the family. She followed them around the farm, convincing them to get Sturgill a friend. Rosabelle joined the gang when a boarder decided to get her daughter a mini as well – and then there were three.
The handmade red sliding barn doors match the doors on the main barn. They are painted a shade called Cherry Apple from Sherwin Williams. The standing seam metal roof also mirrors the big barn.
Thank you Ashley for sharing your adorable new shelter! Below is a photo of the main barn and a link to its tour. Keep up with @windemerefarm on Instagram for daily inspiration.
