Last week on Stable Style I introduced you to the R&R Ranch. Be sure to read, A Shed is Turned into Paradise for 3 Rescued Minis to see the cutest little white barn.
To recap, R&R Ranch is home to Dave and Stacy Rolfe, their daughter Belle, two sons, and furry animal crew in Chesterfield, Missouri. Stacy and her husband purchased R&R Ranch in 2013 as an empty lot and have transformed the space into something special.
In 2014 Stacy and her daughter, Belle, purchased two Miniature horses to provide a better life and environment for them.
At the moment they had no plans to rescue any additional horses. Six weeks later, they rescued two more. Fast forward to 2018 and there are 19 horses who call R&R Ranch their home, 17 are rescued minis.
The main barn was built by Hardesty Homes custom division, Classic Equine provided everything needed for the stable. The barn features nine 12′ x 12′ stalls, indoor and outdoor wash racks, an office/tack room, plus a full size scale. Hay and grain is kept in a separate barn.
The minis share stalls and the full size horses have their own. These beautiful stall fronts are from Classic Equine.
Stacy was very involved with the designing the barn and knew exactly what she wanted.
“Prior to our design, I visited as many barns as I could to see how they did things, what I liked and what I didn’t feel like we needed. It was very helpful. I also went online and looked at ideas on Pinterest (who doesn’t love Pinterest?) Our general contractor, architect and project manager from Classic Equine met regularly to discuss ideas and design. The chandeliers in the center aisle were born from an idea of seeing high end barns online. It made me think, ‘Why can’t we have nice fixtures in the barn’? Once you get into your head that your barn can be anything you want it to be or look like, the sky is the limit.”
It’s a lot of hard work taking care of all the animals. Mornings at R&R Ranch start at 5:30, first it’s time for breakfast and stall cleaning. Two special equine residents, Emma and Chloe require extra care. Emma has moon blindness and has learned to adjust to life without being able to see it like the rest of us.
Chloe came to R&R Ranch with extremely neglected feet – she has laminitis and cushings disease. She takes 32 pills a day. Sometimes she has to stay in her stall for days, weeks and months at a time. It’s heartbreaking to see but it has to be done to keep her comfortable and feeling well.
This is just one example of the love and dedication R&R Ranch provides for its animals.
Hooks from World Market are perfect for hanging halters and leads.
Bambi, one of the sweet rescues now living a better life.
Thank you Stacy for letting us take a look inside your barn!
