Surrounded by mature trees, an elegant barn sits on a perfectly landscaped hillside.
Every detail was considered when it came to bringing this stately structure to life. A private 8-stall horse barn inspired by Old World architecture is able to house horses and humans. The clients called upon equine architect David Mansfield of Stone Lane Associates, BlueStone Construction to build the barn, Kim Hernandez for interior design and Lucas Equine Equipment to provide the stall systems.

The exterior of the barn features decorative fieldstone and stained cedar.
The scale of this impressive 6,000-square-foot structure is huge. The exterior doors alone are twelve feet tall.
The supersized cedar barn doors were inspired from a home in Florence, Italy the couple spotted during their travels. They took a photo of the door and sent it to their architect and builder to have their own set of doors recreated on a larger scale. A set of massive medallions and door knockers span three feet high.
Inside, the barn features eight stall systems from Lucas Equine Equipment. Six of the stalls are 12′ x 14′ and two of the stalls are 14′ x 14′. The black stalls and dark stained, furniture-grade tongue-and-groove paneling on the ceiling and walls set an impressive ambience, yet natural light pours from the skylights above. Antique chandeliers hang beneath the timber trusses.
Across the aisle from the stalls, a set of well-appointed grooming stalls match the stalls by Lucas Equine Equipment.
The stalls are Lucas Equine’s Hanover Stalls with several upgrades including a simple accent center and bottom rails, 5/16” crosshatch mesh in the bottom of the door, 4” solid brass ball finials, a swivel feeder for a Nelson Feeder, feed door and a custom steel post topped with a 6″ solid brass finial between each stall.
The tack room matches the theme of the rest of the barn with its cedar walls.
Outside of the barn, each stall has an attached outdoor run. The black panels attached to the barn are from Lucas Equine. These attach to the beams under the overhang. The surrounding black fencing gives the horses a spacious place to stretch when they aren’t out on pasture.
While Stable Style’s primary focus is on the barn, it’s worth mentioning the impressive two stories of living space in the barn (to the left of the outdoor runs). This space has amazing views and offers a place for guests and extended family members to stay.
