Horse Barn + Apartment
The idea for this barn began with a lifelong dream. The owner and builder grew up keeping her horse at a boarding stable and always imagined having land of her own where she could care for a horse at home. This barn represents that dream finally coming to life.
As an experienced home builder, she approached the project with a strong design vision, but this was the first barn she had ever built. After searching online for inspiration, she realized she couldn’t find anything that fully reflected the beauty, function, and character she envisioned. She worked closely with the architect to develop the overall layout and design, then thoughtfully selected materials and refined the details as construction progressed.
When she discovered American Stalls, she knew their products could help complete her vision. The representative she worked with was incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain the products, answer questions, and provide detailed specification sheets throughout the construction process. The result is a beautiful, highly functional barn that feels every bit as special as the dream that inspired it.

Designed with both the horses and their owners in mind, this five-stall barn combines elevated style with exceptional functionality. Warm wood finishes, American Stalls stall fronts, bars, and steel that the 2 x 6 wood is installed in, Custom steel and steel work to bring it all together, chandeliers, fans, speakers, cameras, in-floor drains, plentiful outlets, and reverse-osmosis water create a space that feels as beautiful as it is practical. Automatic timed feeders and self-filling waterers simplify daily care, allowing more time to enjoy the horses and less time managing chores.

The barn features beautifully crafted stall gates from American Stalls, including a custom pony-height gate designed especially for smaller horses (Full-Sized Horse Stall Gate). American Stalls bars and gates were thoughtfully integrated with custom steelwork, creating a cohesive look that combines durability, safety, and elevated design.

Additional features include a half bath with a tile wall and Brizo plumbing fixtures, an air-conditioned tack room with a bar, sink, beverage fridge and washer/dryer connections, Nelson Auto Waterers with heaters, R-O water to the horse auto waterer, 2 auto feeders, Dutch doors in each stall, and steel inserts from American stalls for the dutch doors and front and back doors.

The air conditioned tack room has a bar with a sink and refrigerator that houses plenty of carrots and apples for the horses and cold water after for ease. It is also set up for a stackable washer/dryer just for horse items that need to be washed. The Brizo faucet, soap dispenser and backsplash bring style to any barn. The inside walls were finished out with T & G Doug fir and European white oak floors.
Barn Bathroom

Every thoughtfully designed barn needs a convenient bathroom. Located just off the barn’s main area, this stylish half bath features a quartz countertop, Brizo faucet, tiled backsplash behind the mirror, and a beautiful Visual Comfort vanity light. It is a practical space finished with the same attention to detail found throughout the property.
Barn Exterior

HDPE Horse fence surrounds the barn and attached outdoor runs. This barn was built for ease so that the horses could come in and out as they please. There is a covered area right outside each of the stalls and the doors are left open for the horses to come in and out of the stall and into the paddock. The beautiful Dutch doors are left open. The steel framing from the dutch doors is from American Stalls and 2 x 6 T & G doug fir was put in the door and stained with a grey stain that matches the soffit.

These Dutch doors are great and versatile in that you can close just the lower part and the horse can look out.

Each stall has a beautiful dutch door with Stained doug fir inserts and a light above the door.

Beauty and function come together seamlessly in this thoughtfully designed barn. The owner/builder worked closely with an architect to bring the vision to life, creating a dream barn with a private and convenient apartment above.
The apartment is accessed through a discreet rear entrance, where a staircase leads to a comfortable living space with stunning Hill Country views. Determining the ideal location for the stairs was one of the more challenging design decisions, but placing them at the back proved to be the perfect solution. They remain out of sight while providing easy, private access to the apartment.
Every detail was carefully considered, from the barn’s ceiling heights and stall dimensions to the flooring materials selected for the horses’ comfort and safety. Warm stained Douglas fir support beams, interior wood walls and stall inserts add richness and character, while the wood soffits beneath the overhangs create a beautifully finished exterior.
Board-and-batten siding, RAM windows and a standing seam metal roof complete the design. No detail was overlooked, resulting in a barn that is as practical and well planned as it is beautiful.

The Vaulted ceilings and lots of windows that showcase peaceful Hill Country views. The open-concept living area flows seamlessly into a fully equipped kitchen featuring custom cabinetry, modern Bespoke appliances, Quartz counters, a stylish backsplash, and an oversized waterfall-edge island with seating for five. Wide-plank European white oak wood floors, built-in speakers, recessed lighting, and thoughtfully selected finishes give the space an elevated yet comfortable feel. With its private rear entrance, the apartment is ideal for guests, extended family, a caretaker, or a peaceful retreat overlooking the property. This apartment has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

Enjoy beautiful views of the barn and surrounding pastures right from the house. Relax indoors while watching the horses and other animals roam, creating a peaceful connection between the home and the property’s natural surroundings.
