“Come on in, I hope you brought wine.” – Taryn Young of Warmbloods + Wine
Taryn Young is an avid equestrian, wine lover and décor enthusiast. She enjoys sharing glimpses of her life on her popular Instagram account @WarmbloodsandWine. Today, Taryn gives us a closer look inside her stylish abode.
“One year ago, we ditched a Chicago high-rise and a suburban townhome and finally purchased our first home in St. Charles, IL. St. Charles is situated next to the historic city of Wayne, home to Lamplight Equestrian Center and the legendary Wayne-DuPage Fox Hunt. We settled on a traditional colonial home — red brick with black shutters, and all I could think about was decorating. It was the perfect canvas for a neutral palette with subtle equestrian touches and as an avid horseback rider since age 7, my husband knew horses would very much be a part of our home décor.”
It’s a very satisfying feeling to take charge of the design details yourself. Taryn and her husband, Kyle eagerly took on the responsibility.
“Every wall was painted, every cabinet refinished and every piece of hardware was replaced. Kyle and I did everything ourselves, which makes ‘home’ even homier. Although I didn’t think I was handy, I knew I was determined and I set a goal to get our house fully finished and decorated before the holidays. DIY home projects are fun, rewarding and extremely accessible with sites like Pinterest and YouTube.”

“We have two dogs and one horse and we call them ‘our fur kids.’ When decorating, I wanted our animals and our special moments to be a part of the photography, artwork and what inspired us around the home. I’m a self-proclaimed ‘bargain-hunter’ so I found many of our bigger pieces after reading reviews on Overstock.com, Wayfair, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, ROSS and Amazon. I shop frugally but shop OFTEN – which inspired me to create my create my equestrian lifestyle account, Warmbloods + Wine.”
