Emma Levin visited Egypt six years ago on a holiday from her home in England. She wanted to escape the cold and dreary February weather and was seeking sun and sand. It had been a long 12 years since Emma had sat on the back of a horse after losing her own. She decided to go horseback riding and rented a horse on her trip. This was the day Emma fell in love with Egypt and riding all over again, this was how Ride Egypt was born. All it took was one ride for Emma to know this was the life she now wanted.
Emma started small with just six horses and a tiny stable. Today, Ride Egypt has grown into a multi-awarding winning company, offering the best in authentic riding holidays in Egypt (Luxor, The Red Sea and Cairo).
Read on to learn more about Emma’s luxurious tack room, see the crumbling stables she started with, and the final result – a beautiful stable that Ride Egypt operates out of.
A Dreamy Tack Room
Emma dreamed about owning a tack room with a chandelier inside ever since she was young. This was the first thing she thought about when she looked at the then crumbling space. She found “the one” in a showroom in Hurghada. It took Emma three hours to select it and she made the shop keepers turn lights on and off for hours, only to select the first chandelier she saw when she walked in. The statement making light brings the room together.
The color scheme for around the stable and tack room doesn’t go unnoticed.
“My logo is gold, white and black so these are always the foundation colors I started designing any stable from.
The elegant saddle racks were custom made in Luxor.
“They are black and gold with a part to hold the saddle and the bridle underneath. Each also has a gold lotus flower engraved which signifies luck here. The doors to our stalls also carry the same look of black and gold with the lotus flower.”
The tack room floor is ceramic, its brown hues give off a feeling of richness and luxury.
Before: A Crumbling Start
These photos show the stable’s state when Emma acquired it. It needed a lot of work. It took six weeks for Emma and her stable hands to restore everything. She didn’t hire a contractor and took pride in doing everything herself. It was a creative process that came from the team that makes up Ride Egypt.
The stables had been neglected but had so much potential.
Beautifully Restored Grounds
After a lot of hard work and TLC the grounds now look beautiful, it’s something that Emma is proud of.
“The concept of Ride Egypt is that we are a family, we welcome guests to our home and our horses. This is truly shown in this stable, but also continues the identity of the brand and colors seen in our other stable locations across Egypt.”
Here are the black and gold stall doors with the lotus flower for luck.
