DarkHorse is the result of a collaboration between owner Laura Connolly and Alan Megerdichian of Sequoia Contracting Company, LTD. This barn would become the catalyst for something bigger, although neither of them knew it at the time. Fast forward a couple years and the idea of Stables-4-Sport has been powered by DarkHorse.

Together Laura and Alan plan on building and renovating horse farms tailored to modern day Sport Horse operations. Alan brings over 30 years of building and designing to the table and Laura’s knowledge as an equestrian and show jumper offers valuable insight.

Laura has spent many years working out of various barns throughout the United States and Europe. She understands a barn needs to be functional and efficient. The right builder is key for making this happen.

“Alan and I have always worked very well together. I am the dreamer of the big picture, and he takes the dream and figures out how to make it a reality, down to the minutest details. I present the challenges and he figures out the solution and how to make it work,” Laura explains. “He has an incredible eye both for aesthetics and design, and is the definition of a perfectionist. He does not know how to cut corners or take shortcuts because the quality of his work is his number one prioroty and he takes pride in what he creates. My contribution stems from working with horses virtually my whole entire life.”

Laura is extremely excited about executing new ideas and making old buildings functional and practical again. New construction will offer a blank slate and the opportunity to get it right the first time.

“We are focusing on renovating/building farms with all the modern day amenities the Sport Horse industry is begging for,” Laura said. “The Sport Horse industry has changed so dramatically over the years, and what we are now needing and wanting in our barns to enhance our equine athletes’ health, well-being, and happiness is what we are wanting to address. We are focused on creating leading edge equine facilities that keep up with the ever expanding demands and desires of both the horses and the humans active in the sport.”

DarkHorse embraces an inviting New England style with a modern touch. Laura and Alan are excited to work on barns in new locations, offering them a chance to develop styles based on the area/climate, and the feel of each particular location.
