Aquila Farm is a peaceful and tranquil stable situated in Belgium. Its unique curved roof draws your eyes to the stable that blends in with its surroundings.
Aquila’s founder Aurélie de Mévius has been riding horses for as long as she could remember. During her junior years she competed as an eventer, but a severe accident on the course made her take some time off and pursue a new discipline. Aurélie spent two years in the United States studying under Pat Parelli and learning natural horsemanship as his apprentice.
Back in Belgium Aquila Farm was officially opened in March of 2017 and Aurélie moved in two years ago with her five horses. Now Aurélie is working towards her dream of developing equine athletes by balancing natural and performance methods.
Interior designer Lionel Jadot was the mastermind behind the planning at Aquila Farm. He had never worked on an equestrian property before so the project presented a new challenge. Harmony was achieved by find the perfect marriage between design and functionality.
The curved roof features green roofing with plants growing on top. The goal was to create a barn that blended in its natural environment and to use simple materials.
There are 16 stalls inside the barn and a nice “paddock paradise” that can accommodate 10 horses.
Aurélie was focused on creating a welcoming social environment for the horses with open space. Each individual stall has an attached paddock behind it. It was intentional leave the walls between the stalls open so the horses can interact with one another.
Aquila Farm offers boarding, training, and a variety of events throughout the year.
This is the wonderful lounge and viewing area into the indoor arena.
