From a distance, this exquisite barn looks like a house.
Magnolia Farm is a 42-acre private property in Camden, South Carolina. The stunning 10-stall barn was designed by Blackburn Architects. Like most projects of this scope, it took about two years to complete – from the initial planning until the construction was finished. The site itself presented no serious issues and the client was delightful to work with. Initially John from Blackburn Architects was concerned the existing small stable was too close to the property line. After double checking with both the neighbor and local permit officer the project was off to a smooth start.
The beautiful barn exterior is made from cedar shingles.
The stalls are by Lucas Equine offering plenty of ventilation and visibility. Double dutch doors allow the barn to be closed up completely during storms or winter weather.
The barn has approximately 25′ high ceilings. Plenty of natural light comes from the cupola and large windows.
Inside the barn there is a wash stall, laundry room, storage space and tack room and lounge area inside. The main hay supply is stored in a separate storage barn on the property.
This shingle style barn embraces the New England charm which became very popular in the 19th century.
